The Austin Stone is taking a significant step forward in sending people from this church to the nations. God uses ordinary people to change the world. One hundred is a great start and we are hoping to send multiple cohorts of 100 People over the coming years.
We are asking ordinary people that God might be stirring to begin the steps of being sent out from this church to the nations. This process takes on average 12–18 months to complete. It combines discerning your calling to the nations, personal and family preparation, formal training, and building your support team.
It takes about 2 years to learn a language adequately and to begin to minister in strategic ways to an unreached people group. Ministry opportunities include church planting, college ministry, urban and social development, economic development, microfinance, sports ministry, business as mission, and so on. We highly encourage that these 100 People follow up their 2 year term with a 4 year term.
An "unreached people group" is a group of people among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize this people group. Paul explained his passion for reaching unreached peoples in Romans 15:19–24. The idea here is to go where there is little to no Christian presence.
